A pet peeve of mine is that so many candidates begin their job search by writing their resume then look for a job online and start mailing it out. How absurd is that?
Would you expect the most professional person you know do that?
Would a Presidential candidate do that? Would Meryl Streep apply to a movie [...]

Networking is critical. Get off the computer and get out. Check out meetup.com or other local exchanges and go meet people. If there isn't one, create one.
