Use your Unique Abilities to Get You the Job

You don’t have to be a Kayaker that enjoys going over waterfalls to be uniquely different than others, though it certainly makes you memorable.
In my last blog article I gave you the secret to describe your weaknesses when asked.
In this article we will take that same self-examination one step further to identify career opportunites that will utilize that which make you unique.
Every individual in this world was born with a unique characteristic that separates them from every other person. It is not always physical, though it may be the physical that creates it. It is something in your personality that is completely different in how you look at and react to the world.
This unique trait is invariably tied to your strengths and when you begin to break down what your strenghts are you start to whittle down what make YOU DIFFERENT than anyone else. For instance, I would list my strengths as: positive, outgoing, friendly, self-motivated, loves people, tireless…. but if you look at those things I listed it tells you something specific about me. I am a people person. Beyond that, I really like helping people. Take that one step further, I have a strong work ethic and don’t need much sleep.
Looking at these traits, there are a number of fields than I can go into: Teaching, Sales, Psychology, medicine, counseling, and many more depending on my likes and dislikes.
My unique traits though coupled with what I really like to do will then enable me to isolate that which I do best. Where did I end up? I help people find jobs and help companies find the best people, as a Recruiter. I also write this blog to help you.
If you are still at a crossroads what you want to do with you life, take 30 minutes. Jot down your strengths. Look at the common theme in it or have someone look at it and you will quickly isolate fields for you to pursue.
