Is your Workplace thinking of going Virtual?

Time for my [belated] Thursday Question:

I just met with one of my clients that has an employee wanting to go virtual (work from home). The Company Philosophy has been to come into the office and work from the office. The Manager knows that 1-2 days per week would work and would keep this employee happy. The employee understands that the company cannot make an exception for one person or set a precedent unless they want to make a broad change in their policy.

What has your company done to solve this issue if it has come up?

  1. Sacrifice losing the Employee and said ‘NO’
  2. Make an exception for a class of employee
  3. Made a policy change that anyone can go virtual with permission
  4. Completely gone Virtual as a company – everyone works from home
  5. The company has always allowed this
  6. Has never come up in conversation
